In the eve of the Celebration we are feeling so close to all the
communities, collaborators, students, women, adults and children… all over the world…
Wishing us to never finish the walk of discipleship, like Mary, and never end to get up and move forward where the needs are calling us.
Remembering our beginnings, so connected to the Celebration of Immaculate Conception, we are aware of the missionary paths still before us.
Today also we welcome the Reflection of María Soledad on the unity of Action and Contemplation in our Claretian life.

“Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them” (Ps 126)
With these words the community of Owerri (Nigeria) has celebrated the inauguration - blessing of the house, built with the effort of the whole Congregation. We have been in Owerri since December 2008. During all these years Claretian missionaries have left us for the use of a part of their house, from where the sisters have been spreading and carrying the mission until today in different fields: catechesis, education and health .
The blessing of the house, in the presence of Archbishop Anthony Obinna, accompanied by the Provincial Symeon Nwobi cmf, several Claretians and Cathy Tulengi the provincial superior of Africa, has been an opportunity, as they report, to share, to thank the Providence manifested in these years of construction and to continue working for the community as a home of welcoming, of prayer, of simple and missionary fraternity.
To the Claretian Fathers of Eastern Province special thanks for the long "neighborhood" and support, which does not end despite of the distance of living.
With the whole Church we have entered the new liturgical year. And as all great events they begin with “expectations” we too open up our hearts to experience a fresh the hope, the trust, the faith of Israel awaiting Messiah. On the light of this first coming of Jesus Christ we are invited to awake, to open our eyes and spirit to discover His living presence in our midst and welcome Him in every day, coming to us in so many ways.
And who comes in our aid? Mary, mother of Jesus teaching us to listen to God, to be ready without fear to embrace the mystery of God letting Him operate in us and through us. Yes, the nine days in which the whole Congregation prepares for Immaculate Mary Feast give this Marian tune to the beginning of Advent, feeling hand to hand with Her, guiding us in hope and availability in our missionary service.
Our missionary presence in Nigeria has grown up opening to different areas of the evangelizing mission. Anna, Angelica, Aime, Nestorine are working in different apostolates: education and Christian formation (Aime and Nestorine in collaboration with the Claretian Missionaries), Anna and Angelica in the area of health (in the centers of the Diocese (Owerri), with another religious congregation and a private institution). Besides this they are carrying out a vocational project and offer support in the discernment and promotion of women.
In order to extend our service and charisma we have visited the Diocese of Makurdi much needed of animation and pastoral formation; we will study this possibility while in Owerri eventually it materializes the prospect of building our house. At present there are two candidates - Vivian and Amaka. We wish to continue to grow in communion and zeal for evangelization and to build up principal of peaceful coexistence within big diversity and conflicts of this nation.
